Akhra is an Abkhazian artist known for his graphic work and paintings. He was born in Abkhazia in 1962, graduated from the Sukhumi Art College in 1982. He’s been living and working in Kyiv since 1993. He has worked as a graphic artist for various publications and is represented in galleries and private collections worldwide. His style is characterized by simplicity, restraint, and delicacy.
“The paintings of A. Adzhindzhal represent an open space. Probably, therefore, when you consider them, there is a feeling of freedom, spiritual emancipation and a certain peace, if I may say so. Important in the works of Akhra is not only space, but also the light with which it is illuminated; moreover, the light is very soft and muffled, fleeting, but thanks to it, the space becomes weighty and at the same time transparent, mysterious, frozen on the edge of a moment ....”, - A. Morozov
The artist himself defines his creed in art as follows:
"I'm tired of super-informative art. I do not want to impose myself on the viewer, but only to touch him.
Touch gently, lightly and thereby appeal to his heart."
