Artist: Matvii Vaisberg

Matvii is most known in Ukraine and around the world for his unique art project "The Wall". It consists of 28 artworks painted over 40 days in January-March 2014 during the events of the Revolution of Dignity, in which Matvii Vaisberg was an active participant. He also took an active part in protests during the Orange Revolution in 2004.

"The Wall" was exhibited in Kyiv, London, Berlin, Warsaw, and New York.

Matvei writes: “It may sound strange, but in February 2014, I felt that I would blow up, if I won’t paint. On January 28, 2014, I came here to the studio and began to paint "The Wall". I painted and fought through it. It seemed to me that nothing could be scarier than this.

Vaisberg is heavily involved in various charitable projects. Since 2014, when Russian aggression towards Ukraine began he held master class sessions on painting and decorating on wood for the children of displaced and children of Ukrainian defenders.

Since 2014 Matvii actively participates in charity projects in support of Ukrainian soldiers.

With the start of a full-scale war, Matvii Vaisberg creates a series of graphic drawings titled, “Road Diary". According to him, "painting at that moment was not only an attempt not to go crazy, but also, hope that somehow you can be of help and make your own tiny contribution, under the circumstances, to help your country. Everything I painted was about war. Both directly and indirectly."

Matvei Vaisberg is also a great graphic artist and had illustrated many books.
